Welcome to SVR 2013. The SVR (Symposium on Virtual and Augmented Reality) is the major conference in VR and AR in Brazil sponsored by SBC (The Brazilian Computing Society). SVR brings together researchers, practitioners, students and other professionals from academic, industrial and commercial areas interested in the advances and applications of Virtual and Augmented Reality.
The first edition of SVR was held in 1997 in São Carlos-SP, and other events hosted in Marilia (1999), Gramado (2000), Florianópolis (2001), Fortaleza (2002), Ribeirão Preto (2003), São Paulo (2004), Belém (2006), Petrópolis (2007), João Pessoa (2008), Porto Alegre (2009), Natal (2010), Uberlândia (2011) and Niterói (2012).
This year, the first time, the Symposium on Virtual and Augmented Reality will happen in the midwest region of Brazil, in the city of Cuiabá, MT. Organized by Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT) and supported by the Federal Institute of Science and Technology of Mato Grosso (IFMT), bringing to the area of Virtual and Augmented Reality a greater coverage in Brazilian territory.
The SVR aims at bringing together researchers, promoting the exchange of experiences and facilitating the interaction between research groups, creating better conditions for new inter-institutional research groups to be created, as well as working as a display of the advances of Virtual and Augmented Reality in Brazil and in the world.
The planned activities for SVR 2013 include minicourses, invited speakers, tutorials, technical sessions to present related papers, demo and prototype exhibition and workshops.
